UK Asylum Records
« on: Wednesday 10 January 18 11:44 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I have just found a record of one of mine having been in an asylum. Apart from the obvious headings the discharge ones are a bit of a puzzle. (See attached) I believe that the first reason is "Recovered". The second I think is "Released" but the third is a mystery to me "Not Impd". I've tried Ancestry to no avail and searched the forum with no success. Is there anyone who can enlighten me?
Regards

Recovered, relieved, not improved, and died.

Thanks everyone for the explanations.

The orders for discharge book from Menston was particularly helpful in clarifying how some were discharged when they appeared not to have improved.
I agree with the explanations from Archivos and others.

Thanks again
