Emma greening. b1849, (married 1869?). Brickwall
« on: Wednesday 10 January 18 16:41 GMT (UK) »
Free BMD records marriage of Emma Greening, Sep 1869,  but names none of the others on the page.

Working from entry on Family Search I have deduced that she married Samuel Curtis. (The birth of William Henry Kinsman Monk - mmn Tucker -  in 1873 links the other couple).

The evidence of 1861 suggests she was born Marystow, Devon. March quarter 1849, Tavistock.

I cannot find Emma and Samuel in 1871 or in any other subsequent census, suggesting that they may have emmigrated. The multiple variations of their surname does not help when it comes to searching.

I would welcome assistance to trace this couple, both to confirm Emma's identity and to discover their destiny.

So what page/district is given?

Take a look at the original page, too. Could it be interpreted as any other number/district?

eg page 631. It is short of a bride.

The Free B MD reference for Emma's marriage I:- Sept 1869 Tavistock 5b 631, which matches the others.

I am confident with that record. What I want to know is what happened afterwards.

What are the names of Emma's parents, to help in identification of possible deaths in other countries?

You might need that marriage certificate for more information about Samuel, to check age/parents/job to confirm him subsequently.
If no-one can find them easily (and you have not and this post has had 77 readers at this time) then all extra information that is available should be used.

Or indeed to check that it is "your" Emma.

What are the names of Emma's parents, to help in identification of possible deaths in other countries?

Likely candidates:

In 1871 at Tavistock
Richard Greening    60    Kelly, Devonshire
Susan Greening            51    Coryton
Ester Greening            19    Marystowe

they have a 2 year old Emma with them in 1851 at Marystow
Richard Greening    40    Kelly, Devonshire
Susan Greening            29    Coryton
Melleny Greening    6    Milton Abbott
Matthew Greening    4    Milton Abbott
Emma Greening            2    Marystow

HO107/1884 / 288 pg 2

Modified to add:
Here they are in 1861 at Marystow:
Richard Greening    49    Kelly, Devon
Susan Greening            41    Coryton
Melloney Greening    16    Milton Abbot
Esther Greening           10    Marystow
Richard Greening    8    Marystow
Henry Greening            5    Marystow
John Greening           3    Marystow

I suspect this is Emma in 1861 at Middle Raddon, Marystow (transcribed here as Groning):

Elizabeth Cudlipp    69    Marystow, Devon
John Cudlipp            40    Marystow, Devon
Mary Cudlipp    Daughter In Law    34    Thrushelton
Havilah Cudlipp            Grandson            12    Marystow
Emma J Cudlipp    Granddaughter   11    Marystow
John Cudlipp             Grandson            6    Marystow
Edwin Cudlipp    Grandson                      1    Marystow
Emma Groning    Servant    13    Marystow
William Doidge    Servant    65    Marystow
William Bickle    Servant    17    Lew Trenchard

RG09/1464 / 92 pg 5

But this is still just speculation until you get confirmation from the marriage cert  ;)
