John William Pickering
« on: Wednesday 10 January 18 21:08 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone have John William Pickering born Fridaythorpe 22 October 1852. I thought Robert Pickering And Sarah Harland had just 2 children Annie Elizabeth 1854 Fridaythorpe, and Mary Jane 1860 Fridaythorpe, my line,  until I found a grandson, john William Pickering, October 1852 Fridaythorpe, living with Sarah's parents Robert Harland and Elizabeth Petch age 8, in Chapmangate Pocklington,   looking on Familysearch it gives his parents as Robert Pickering and Sarah. there are several possibilities in later census for him but nothing definite. so just wondering if anyone knows what happened to him .thank you , nikitah

Thanks for that Pauline , I was hoping someone might have him in their tree, as no one in the family knew about him, there's a possible one in the 1871 census, but just John, in Hartlepool age 20 a drapers assistant born Fridaythorpe, maybe a red herring, no other clues, he's with a group of young men all drapers assistants or drapers apprentices, fingers crossed someone might claim him. many thanks, Nikitah.

Have you looked to see if anyone is researching his family by looking in 'Surname Interests' under 'Your Tools' below?   Better for you to look than just sit and wait for someone to read your posting.

Have you looked for deaths for him and then tried to eliminate the other John W Pickerings born at the same time?

Thank you chempat, yes I've done all that, I'm even in touch with a lady who has an extensive one name Pickering site but there's nothing other than the information I have. I have no proof that's him in 1871 in Hartlepool, born Fridaythorpe either, there where many Pickering's in and around Fridaythorpe, lots called John, and two John William's born the same quarter, one at Driffield, mine  Fridaythorpe. However I'm now learning more about the Pickering's of Fridaythorpe through my contact. so maybe John William will come to light some day. Many thanks. Nikitah
