The court records are on Findmypast.ie

I tried James Kenny Brockagh and it starts at 1901 and for Ballinrobe at 1903
You have to open each record to see if a constable or other person but most were Constable James Kenny

Ancestry also has a reference to a RIC record for a James Kenny who started aged 24 in 1896 from Donegal but no link to original records unfortunately
Kearney & Bourke/ Johns & Fox/ Mannion & Finan/ Donohoe & Curley
Byrne [Carthy], Keeffe/ Germaine, Butler/ McDermott, Giblin/ Lally, Dolan
Toole, Doran; Dowling, Grogan/ Reilly, Burke; Warren, Kidd [Lawless]/ Smith, Scally; Mangan, Rodgers/ Fahy, Calday; Staunton, Miller
Further generations:
Brophy Coleman Eathorn(e) Fahy Fitzpatrick Geraghty Haverty Keane Keogh Nowlan Rowe Walder

His 1905 marriage should be noted on his baptism, (should doesn't mean it was of course) if you can find and look at James Kenny baptisms in Donegal parishes that is.

Also on FindMyPast

This is a one line entry in the Royal Irish Constabulary service records 1816-1922

James KENNY joined the RIC aged 24 years and 2 months on Apr 15 1896
He was 5' 11¼" tall which is out from your 6'6", from Donegal County and a farmer

His record shows he married on Sept 06 1905 and his wife was from Co. Mayo

Sinann, so far i have only searched baptism records from the NLI which is exhaustive and turned up relatively little but none included marriage additions. findmypast records may prove different.

myluck! your help has been fantastic! His height is very different to what I had been told, i guess that makes the family source very unreliable to have included such an odd piece of incorrect information. 1872 birth ties in with his death record. I subscribed to findmypast just now and have the 1901 court record you mentioned. I didn't realise it was such a good source.

I have recorded a lot of details of the family of John Kenny and Kitty McCloskey, civil, baptism, census. children Catherine/Cassie, James, Mary, Anne, Patrick, and a James baptised in 1863 that must have died at birth or very young. The surname McCloskey didn't tie in with information i had been given that James mother was an O'Donnell but this is the same source that makes James more than 6 inches taller for no apparant reason. This family ties in better with my fathers belief that he was from the Killybegs area(it isn't that far away) which i didnt mention as i also had sources suggesting Glenties and Somewhere around the Inishowen area close to Derry.
