William Haliburton BELL death
« on: Thursday 11 January 18 10:17 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for a death for William Haliburton BELL born 22 Aug 1836 in Forfarshire Scotland,
Mother Jane HALIBURTON, Father John BELL. William was  a ropemaker

I am also after the death of his wife Ann DALY married 12 Feb 1871 at the RC church Hawthorn (Melbourne) born (possibly) Co Kerry Ireland, her father, Patrick DALY, mother Ellen FOSTER. Anne was a servant. I have their marriage cert.

Children, Eleanor 1872-1872, Mary Ann 1874- 1960, Ellen 1875-1875, John Patrick 1876- 1943, William 1880-1953

I am reasonably confidant with the Births of William and Ann and their marriage and their children, but the deaths are eluding me.

The whole extended family seems to have lived and died in Richmond (Melb) but William and Anne just vanish after the last of their kids is born. William seems to have dropped the Haliburton second name which makes it very difficult.

rusted,
Have you located any newspaper notices for the marriage of any of the children?
These often contain information about parents, eg "daughter of the late.....of...."

Hi Warncoort.
Did you find him on the Dept Of Justice site?
I must be doing something wrong, no results for William Haliburton Bell, too many results to display for William Bell. If I refine the search down to the years between the birth of his last child 1879 and 1936 with his fathers name in the results the result is manageable but he isn't there.

Sparret
We found lots of childrens goings on, filled up quite a few spouses, children and grandchildren but not a boo about William and Ann. Very strange.

I rechecked Trove and for their three childrens weddings there were no wedding notices. Lots of information in their death notices, just no mum and dad.

Well,
The only possibility I can see for an address in Richmond for them is,

145 Palmer Street Richmond.
BELL, William. Butcher
BELL, Annie. HD

At Elizabeth Street Richmond, the son and wife.

BELL, John. Lab
BELL, Constance. HD

Thanks Sue
We tracked that William Bell (butcher) around the place, Abbotsford etc. Turned out he was William Henry Bell. dates etc are not right.
Probably not the same fellow

The son John and Constance is correct.

I have been tracking Ann Bells in the 1903 Electoral roll, one in Hawthorn could be her but no William, another in 42 Jeffcott St. with a William but he's a coachbuilder. more Bells at 12 Jeffcott St but not related to my mob.

How likely would it be for a person to go from being a ropemaker, presumably a factory job, to a coachbuilder, almost surely a trade.

I have to give up for now we have NBN and this is so slow and frustrating.
