Mystery couple my ancestors - Can you help
« on: Thursday 11 January 18 12:28 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I have a couple John Huckle and Sarah East who married Barrington in 1805. I do not seem to have a clear picture of where they were born and why they married in Barrington. I am descended from their son John. who was one of 4 children all baptised in Stapleford.

Any guidance would be much appreciated as after 10 years, every time I think I hav found them I am wrong.

Many thanks

David ;)

Looking at the entry in Pallot's Marriage Index, it states that John is from St Sepulchre's, Cambridge.  The same tree has John as the son of Thomas Huckle and Elizabeth Fletcher, but there is no supporting evidence.  :o  Evidence for Sarah is equally vague.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Hi Rosie & BumbleBKind Regards

David

I think this is where some of my confusion arose as there is a Mary Huckle baptsied in 1762 dr of Thomas Huckle and Elizabeth Fletcher, who is almost certainly the same Mary Huckle who gave birth to John in 1782.

There seems to be some confusion on ht various tress with lots of different Mary & johns. I now need to find what happened to Mary after the birth of John

Hi
Looks like Mary Huckle married Thomas Cornell at Stapleford 1786 (Boyds marriage index)
Possible children James at Trumptington 9.9.1787,Leeds 7.8.1788 at March,Sarah 17.1.1790 at Stapleford.

Mary Cornell widow married Thomas smith Trumpington 7 Dec 1798

Hi Ciderdrinker et al

Now it starts to get really confusing my great great grandfather was John Cornell born 1835 who married Jane Huckle in 1856. John was the son of William Cornell who was the grandson of Thomas Cornell and Mary Huckle.

Jane Huckle born 1835 was the dr of John Huckle born 1813, he was the son of John Huckle born 1782 son of Mary Huckle & John Barnes. Does that all make sense. If you think that is ok I am going to have to change my family tree somewhat.

Kind Regards

David :D

Just as a matter of interest, when did Jane Huckle marry ?? Dockerill?  I see that she married John Cornell as a widow in 1856, aged 20, but daughter of John Huckle.  I've only seen a transcription of the 1856 marriage entry.  :)

Amended - seen it - Charles Dockerel - 1852.  :-[
