Hans Prebensen
« on: Thursday 11 January 18 20:55 GMT (UK) »
Hi there,

A long, long time ago I put up this post on Hans Prebensen http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=782130.msg6366080#msg6366080 and since that time I did find him mentioned in a newspaper article in 1919 here:https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/newspapers/TAIDT19190528.2.2.4?query=Prebenson

The question I would like to ask is: Is there anything I can do to find out what property he lived at or any other resource that would help?

Warmest regards,

Ashley

The Electoral rolls could pinpoint the whereabouts of your man.

Regarding the ownership of any land, (e.g. @ Hautapu?) a trawl through the Deeds Indexes at Archives on-line may well be worthwhile. I have forgotten just what the procedure is as to how to set about doing this, but if you contact Archives, the staff can 'walk' you through the process. They will most likely send detailed instructions on request via e-mail. Personally I found a great deal of information regarding family land through such searching.

This isn't quite on topic - but do you have Hans's birth? It's indexed as PREBERSEN on Family Search.

Hi Johnf04. Hans (a.k.a. Harry Henry) was born in Horsens, Denmark on May 11, 1871. He married Jane Banfield in 1895. They are both buried at the Hamilton West Cemetery. Strangely though Hans' burial record only states that he was "buried" and contains no other information - I believe it was his wife's family who buried him, as they were also living in Taihape. My ancestors did not know where he was living at that time.

Hans was last enrolled and voted in the 1914 election. From memory the 1919 election was held in December. The newspaper article I found was in May 1919 - so I'm thinking if I can find out where he was living, it might help conclude if he indeed died before December 1919?
