Steele's of Canada possibly Ontario
« on: Thursday 11 January 18 21:30 GMT (UK) »
Looking for any documents/info on an Ira Steele and wife, Rhoda Willer.

They spent some time in Canada and may have immigrated to America as well.

Their son, Aaron Steel, who was born 1822 in Canada and died in Michigan is my ancestor and I found his parents names on his death certificate but don't know anything else about them!
The reason I think they could have settled in Ontario is because Aaron's daughter was born in London, Ontario.

The last name could be spelt Steel or Steele.

Any information regarding his parents, Ira & Rhoda would be much appreciated!!

there is an image of Aaron's death cert on findagrave.  The place of birth of Aaron's parents is given as "unknown".

Aaron was married in Dorchester, Ontario (close to London, Ontario)

They are lines 15 and 16.  Not sure why there are tiny pencil "x" marks beside their names ???

So - there are many records showing Aaron/Aron in Southwestern Ontario.

Do you know if Aaron had siblings?

RK, the little x's in the 1851/2 census seem to generally be used to indicate a married couple.

Wow! You found a lot. It's great to have all that info on them.
I found it especially interesting that they recorded their family origin as German! Maybe Ira & Rhoda were immigrants from Germany??
Thanks so much!

If they were German, that would be a good clue.  You might have to expand your name search to include German names which could be anglicized to Steel.
