PRECIOUS are these five men brothers?
« on: Friday 12 January 18 06:42 GMT (UK) »
Good Morning everyone,

I am in the middle of researching my partner's Auntie Margaret's family tree. I am looking at the Precious side of her family. I have got a little bit stuck now  ???

Her line goes back to a Thomas Precious, born 1816 in Wetherby, who was a basket maker in Ripon.

I have also found Edward Precious, born 1811 in Wetherby, who was a Brewer in Leeds, John Precious, born in 1813 in Wetherby, who was a wood sawyer in Bradford, David Precious, born 1818 in Wetherby, who was a wheelwright in Wetherby and George Precious, born in 1820 in Wetherby, who was a blacksmith in Wetherby.

I have 5 men all born around the same time in Wetherby-could they be related?

David was christened 11 Jan 1818 in Wetherby - states his parents are John Precious and Lydia Sels.
George's father- according to his marriage certificate, is called John Precious, a brewer.
On the 1851 census Lyda Precious born 1835 in Kirkstall is visiting Thomas Precious in Ripon....Edward has a daughter called Lydia Precious born 1835 in Kirkstall.

Could really use some help here please, am I on the right track or am I totally confused  ???

Thank you, Carrie  :D :D :D

Images are on FindMyPast.  A little more information from the registers:

John - John Senior is "Servant to Mr Rhodes, Brewer"
Thomas - Labourer
David - Labourer
George - Labourer

I can't access the dataset which covers up to 1812.
That's "West Yorkshire, England, Church of England Baptisms, Marriages and Burials, 1512-1812"

But there do appear to be a couple of candidates for other sibling(s)

Confused - Are you saying that John, Mary Ann & Edward all Labourers  ???

Marriage - All Saints, Spofforth - 24 November 1801 by Banns

John Pretious (x) bachelor and Lydia Sels (x) spinster, both of this parish.

One of the witnesses is James Potter, who is perhaps a church official as he is a witness to a number of marriages.
