Where do I go from here.
« on: Friday 12 January 18 14:06 GMT (UK) »
Hi.
Found an ancestors marriage certificate in which he states that he is a sapper in the R.E. However cannot find any details thereafter.
He was William Thomas Jacobs. b.1889 Heatherlands. Parkstone, Dorset. He married Beatrice Pattenden 15th November 1918 in Parkstone, Dorset  Cannot find any service history at all. Where do I go from here?.

Given his age and the date he married, it is quite likely he continued in the Royal Engineers after 1920, if so his records will still be with the MOD.

Jebber - Ah, the times I've done that!  I blame my advancing age  :'(

dudjac - consider doing what I do: keep a list of all info available on FoundMePissed then take out a one month sub and blitz them all (but remember to click the "don't renew sub" box)

I find there's one William T Jacobs, 1st. Bdr. 44381 27/Bde. R.F.A. who received the 14 Star for service in France 19/8/14. Date says he was a full-timer or in reserve at the outbreak of war.
He transferred to the R.E. 28/4/17. as Spr. 251742.
Possibly your man.
