Not conclusive of course but would tie in with him having been a full-timer which your man appears to have been.
Without a service record it's impossible to be sure at this point.
What's needed is his service number.
You could try for the 1918 Absent Voter's list which might yield something.

When he enlisted it was:

Attestation service number   5038
Attestation corps   3rd Dorset Regt

3/Batt. was reserve so might not have been a full time soldier at that point. If it's the same man.

 Apparently 27 Brigade of the Royal Field Artillary  were regulars,
 being formed prior to WW1.

Yes 27/Bde. were fulltime soldiers however 3/Batt. Dorsets weren't.
