I'm picking that Mary Jane married the father of the Andrew THORBURN who married Jane Elizabeth RUDDELL. The older Andrew's previous wife, Margaret Ann, died in 1880. The older Andrew died at the age of 70, in 1901.

James Lamont and Mary Norris - Possibly married in Drumads, Londonderry Northern Ireland, James LAMONT or Lemon (maybe mispelled)(DOB; bef 1829). Father was Robert LAMONT. James married Margaret NORRIS on 21 Nov 1850.

It's still not clear what or who OP is looking for as the original post mentions Lamonts in 'Ballmoney' [Ballymoney] which could be the Lamonts of Eden (near Ballymoney, Co. Antrim) and James Lamont & Margaret Norris (Tyrone family) yet has posted on New Zealand board. I think they've been online earlier but have not posted on this thread again to clarify anything.

James lamont that died 3/12/1891 in Ballmoney, Ireland has a will and his son James Lamont of Kirkinriola was born in Antrim. Joseph, John, Jane, Thomas and Elizabeth (married name Harbison) seem to be other children.

Seems like Mary Norris was not the wife of this James Lamont. So yes looks like two different families ...... Sandi might just be jumping to the conclusion that the only James Lamont death she found is her ancestor.
