Ruth Ratcliffe baptism - Chesterfield-nc 17 Jan 1763
« on: Saturday 13 January 18 20:55 GMT (UK) »
I wonder if anyone can help?

I'm trying to confirm the baptism of Ruth Ratcliff(e) which appears via Ancestry, in the 'England, Select Births and Christenings, 1538-1975' collection.

I have tried to verify the place and date by checking the images of St Mary & All Saints PR's, but there is no relevant baptism.. Which leads me to wonder where Ruth was actually baptised?

Does anyone have an idea what Chesterfield-NC means?

It's also on Family Search - father Moses

Not sure but NC could stand for Non-Conformist

According to familysearch\wiki:
The following non-Church of England denominations were located somewhere in Chesterfield, but the exact parish has not been identified:
Baptist
Presbyterian
Roman Catholic
Sandemanian
Wesleyan Methodist

Thank you all!

I feel silly now, though it was late in the evening here, so I'll claim that as my excuse ;)

Also this must be one of the earliest non conformist records among my interests so far.

Thank you again. It is much appreciated.
