What county? I can find Trim Castle (Co. Meath) but nothing like 'Branwell Castle' or 'Crickton castle' in Ireland.

May be Trimblestown Castle??

NICHOLAS DE BERNEVAL, of Crickstown, co. Meath, married a daughter of Clifford, and died before 1386, having had issue a son, CHRISTOPHER.

SIR CRISTOPHER DE BERNEVAL, of Crickstown

On the outskirts of Trim in county Meath, Ireland, stands the ruined remains of Trimblestown Castle, 15th century home to the Barnewalls. The Trimblestown river flows along the edge of the castle grounds, with clumps of trees scattered along the banks. St. Patrick founded a Monestary nearby.

The crest of the Barnewall - Lords Trimlestown (Sir Reginald Barnewall) in Ireland comprises of a rainbow hued plume. The crest is one of the most verigated ever known by certain heraldic authors. Upon a wreath of the colours, from a plume of five ostrich feathers, or gules, azure, vert and argent a falcon rising of the last with the motto “Malo mori quam foedari” (trans. I would rather die than be disgraced)

Thank you Hallmark .By describing the coat of arms I know this is the right castle.
My husband Tony tells me that his great grandmother was a sister to the 10th Baronet Sir Sir Reginald Aylmer John Barnewall  ( 1838 - 1909 ).
If you Google search "  Barnewall Baronetcy  " you will see the connection to Crickstown Castle in Meath County. The current Baronet is the 13th, and lives in Queensland , Australia. Thanks again wegsgirl

Hello wegsgirl,

The history of Drimnagh Castle in Dublin may also be of interest to you. It was built around 1216 and occupied by the Barnwells for centuries.

Barnewalls had a number of estates and properties from 12th century. Tremblestown Castle County Meath, Roebuck Castle (UCD) South County Dublin, Drimnagh Castle in Dublin City and the newly magnificently restored Bremore Castle in Balbriggan North County Dublin, just Google it truly amazing. They inter married and closely associated with most other Pale Lords like the Plunkets, Talbots, Taylors and at the height of their power and wealth the Fitzgerald. Like most Catholic Lords they suffered greatly in the wars of the 17th century. Some junior branches survived the upheavals but all just faded out in the late 18th centuries. But this great family served their country well.
