William Hayward, Cranbrook - which one is correct?
« on: Monday 15 January 18 23:37 GMT (UK) »
Hi

Have recently found my way back to William Hayward who married Susan/na Porter 3/7/1688 at Cranbrook.  They were the parents of my Robert who was born 1691.
I found a William Hayward son of William Hayward and Katherine Gennings christened 19/7/1656, twin of Katherine.
Initially I was happy with this but I later found - William, son of Robert Hayward and Margaret Boorman, christened at Cranbrook on 26/1/1650-1.  Looking further I found that this Robert's will was said to have been proved at Canterbury in 1684.
So is it possible to view this will on line?  And can anyone tell me which site is the best one to search for Cranbrook events?  I've found part of someone's tree but they have some things that I can't find and are missing others that I've found!
It's wonderful to have made a find of 3 generations so quickly but want to make sure that I've got it right.  :D

Thank you for staying with me,
Lee

The Will of Robert Hayward Cranbrook 1680 1684 PRC/17/76/126c  PRC/16/310 H/9
You can order a copy from https://wills.canterbury-cathedral.org but will need to obtain an order form from them first. Cost is usually between £9 and £12 depending on length of the will.

Morning

Thanks for the info. PtE.
Yes, I had seen that site. That is why I'm querying which William is mine.
I googled and found the pages on Hayward & Boorman families but the main site seems to be all about foreign travel.  ???  Unless I'm missing something.   Quite possible as I didn't grow up with computers and have just picked things up along the way.

Regards
Lee   :)

Just another suggestion. Have you tried to contact connect@boormanfamily.ca  They obviously have access to Robert Hayward's Will as parts of it are shown on their website, http://boormanfamily.weebly.com/trees.html
Look at second generation!

Hi PtE

Just to say thanks for pointing me in the right direction!  Making progress as now know that the two Williams were cousins.  So now putting our heads together to find which one married Susan/na.
Have sorted out some obvious errors in transcriptions and the multiple use of certain christian names.

Have also found a distant cousin.  :-)
