Agree with Gadget and Carol. The man has lost a lot of weight in the face, but a war and twenty years can do that.

Had a go at a tidy.
Is it just me or does the lady seem awkwardly perched, halfway between sitting and kneeling? I wonder what she's sitting on.

Still not sure of the woman's nose - usually the nose turns down with age not the other way. Eyes are more deep set in the first pic  :-\

added - I thought that Peter. Could it be a stool not a chair.

I see where you are coming from Gadget but I think that is down to the different carriage of the head and direction of light in the two photos...but I could be wrong.

I was wondering if she was looking up in one and down in the other, Carol. The shape of face and the mouth  are the same. All in all I do think they are the same couple.

I've been setting up a new laptop so my eyes are squiffy  :-X

Had a bit of a think and wonder if there is any possibility that these couples could be the same people?

The black/white image on the right is from abt 1927, if that helps.

Thanks
STG

The man seems the same in both photo's with a distinctive wide chin.

In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

Not sure about the woman but I'd bet it is the same man.  Same facial shape and a similar expression
