Elizabeth Dean "of Thornton College"
« on: Tuesday 16 January 18 20:33 GMT (UK) »
Hello There,

The above person was one of my 5x great grandma's.
She was buried in Goxhill, on the 4th of October 1826.
On the section for her residence at burial,it states: "Thornton College."
Here is the link fron "Lincs To The Past":
https://www.lincstothepast.com/Records/RecordDisplayTranscript.aspx?oid=598533&iid=307653

Does anyone know where this was please?
Her Husband, George Dean, was buried in Goxhill, on the 11th of March 1807, and his residence looks like the same as Elizabeth's in the register.

Any information would be gratefully accepted.

Thank you very much.  :) ;)

i Am just looking at an old map but can’t link it. The map shows Thornton College ruins near to Thornton Moor and Littleworth.

I looked at the 1856 map on here http://www.rootschat.com/links/01lch/

Hello,

There is this article here, could it be the same place?

http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/e5620e38-14d8-43f7-845b-b804ec242e2c

It must be the same place.

Heywood

Thank you.

So this means it was probably in or around the area of Thornton Curtis?

 :)

Yes on a line between Thornton Curtis and East Halton about the middle. Sorry this is so amateurish in description  ::)
