Hoping that someone can read the signature found on the back of a photograph of a WW1 Australian soldier.

Thank you for the quick reply. I will try your suggestion and see if I can discover something about him. Maybe further down the line the name will mean something to me.

I thought maybe Mahy and there is a John James Mahy but his signatures in his records are too different from this one

I think that what looks like a Ry.. is not a y, but an i. I what appears to be the tail of a y is a line leading from the 8 of the date of 28/ to the "/" line dividing the day from the month. The day has later been amended to 20.

My first thought on the surname was Riahy, but the h is a bit wider than the h in John. I don't know the surname Riahy, but if there is such a name then that's what this looks like. (maybe Irish?)
