Dr John Bond and family, West Kirby, Hoylake, Wirral
« on: Thursday 18 January 18 03:55 GMT (UK) »
In 1933 on a trip to the UK my family visited at Hoylake, Parkgate, Conwy Castle in Wales and other spots in that area. I've posted before under "Tom Beesley 1933 UK Trip" and the photos here are from that same trip. I am trying to ID the people in the photos other than Tom and Iris Beesley, specifically the two women who look like they are sisters, and the elderly lady and gentleman.
I now think they could be a photos of the Dr Bond family who lived in West Kirby according to the 1911 Census. The 1901 Census shows the 3 daughters living alone with the eldest listed as head of household.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Brian Hunter Beesley

Dr Bond's wife Maria Jessie Ramsay Bond died in September 1932. John Bond MD was her administrator, address 48 Queens Road Hoylake. My 1938 Directory lists "the Misses Bond" at that address.

John Bond MD died in March 1936. His 2 daughters Mary and Hilda were executrices.

Is it possible that the photos were taken before 1933?

All the dates on the photos are 1933 and I have passenger lists for the trip. There's always the possibility that the elder two people in the photos are NOT Bonds, or maybe just the older  lady was not. At this point I have no proof that my identifications are correct, still just guesses that fit well.
Maybe someone from that area will have other photos of the Bond family?

Here is a link back to the original post I made about the 1933 trip. There's a couple of other photos.

I just found a passenger list from May 1938 for some other family, Kenneth McKelvie and wife Emily, from Shanghai China, aboard Empress of Canada to Vancouver, in transit via NY to UK June 3 aboard the Franconia. They show their UK contact as a cousin, Miss M Baird, 48 Queens Road, Hoylake. Why is nothing ever simple and straight forward?

Miss M Baird, 48 Queens Road, Hoylake

Presumably that should read "Miss M Bond"

Yes, I suppose. Maybe it was typed up from a hand written manifest. This is what I have:

Ok, I have it now. Dr John Bond was Kenneth McKelvie's uncle who died in 1936. The two remaining daughters, Hilda and Mary ( his cousins ) were still living at 48 Queen's Road, Hoylake. Now I just have to find out if the photos I have, which were taken in 1933, are of the two Bond daughters, and if so, who the elder people were?

BTW, I can see where Bond and Baird could look very similar in handwriting. It makes sense and the address more or less confirms it

The old lady in the 1933 photos seems to me to have similar facial features to Tom Beesley.
