William STARKEY & Sarah LUPTON - their baptisms
« on: Thursday 18 January 18 07:43 GMT (UK) »
William STARKEY & Sarah LUPTON married by Banns at West Allington 06 Apr 1776. Both were of the parish.

I am seeking some assistance to locate William and Sarah's parents and baptisms. Not being a local and not having researched in Lincolnshire before I am not feeling terribly confident about making any decisions as to sifting through the various possibilities.

William and Sarah moved to Denton where William was the School Master.  He was buried 5 Aug 1798.

I know this is not much on which to make any decisions but nonetheless I have found the quality of  assistance fantastic on Rootschat forum.

Try the Lincstothepast website.   Type in the top line of the advanced search facility  "West Allington par baptisms" and you will find records back to 1559.

Thanks for the lead.  I had a look and no idea how anyone works out whats what or more specifically find the desired record.

It was a little like looking through a key hole and perhaps I am doing this incorrectly.

Any other places where one might be able to find the records in a slightly more user friendly format?

If you have a sub to Findmypast you can search on there for Lincolnshire BMDs.

It's easier if you click on Search A-Z and then type Lincolnshire. That way you'll get a list of the Linc's options.

Remember that Allington is only a mile from the county boundary, so restricting yourself to Lincs isn't necessarily a good idea.

Sheffield is closer to Allington than Grimsby is.

There was a Sarah LUPTON bap quite close, Londonthorpe in 1751.  Since I don't think you have an age for her when she died, I suspect you are limited to guesswork anyway.  :-\

For what it's worth, there is no other obvious marriage for the one born in Londonthorpe.
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.

Thanks Lizzie & Geoff,

Good advice. :)

I had looked at the Londonthorpe baptism and wondered about it.  Something in its favour is the lack of any other possible marriage.

Much appreciated and shall continue.
