Another crinoline lady (plus gentleman) for dating please
« on: Thursday 18 January 18 11:17 GMT (UK) »
This CDV was part of a group, apparently taken from a family album. One already posted here http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=785531.msg6406235#msg6406235
and this one is clearly taken in front of the very same doorway. Unlike the previous one it doesn't seem to have been trimmed, and I think the square corners are authentic.

Looking at the size of the skirt, and her hairstyle, I assume that this is mid-1860's - please can the experts confirm that I'm correct?

Many thanks for any help  :)

Looks like it could be earlier than the last one.  i think the man's clothing  (dark jacket/light trousers) ended mid- 60s.

That's lovely, thanks both of you again for your help.

Here's another Gibson I put up for dating in 2016 where the man is wearing contrasting jacket and trousers. Jim said that sometimes the colour contrasts could be quite garish, and not muted as they appear in the photo.

Agree with Gadget, early to mid decade. The Bishop's sleeve is a bit of a giveaway as it's an 1850's style & went out of fashion early 60's.

I was a bit thrown by the woman's top as I've not seen many that were differently coloured from the skirt but the man's outfit convinced me of the early period,
