Thomas Liddle marriage 1838 Hexham

Hi, Is there a site online  that has Hexham marriages or can anyone help me. I am trying to find the parents of Thomas Liddell who married Jane Harrison in 1838 in Ninebanks, Hexham.

Hi Carolyn,

Ninebanks isn't in Hexham itself, but is some 15 miles away in West Allendale. (it is, however in Hexham Registration District)

I think the marriage must have taken place at St Marks, Ninebanks.

I don't think Ninebanks marriages are available online (probably now someone will come along and prove me wrong  )

If I am right, then your best hope is for a look-up at Northumberland Archives. otherwise you will have to bite the bullet and buy the certificate

In 1841 Thomas 25 and Jane 20 are in Hexham + John 2 & Joshua 2 weeks.
All born in the County.

I cannot find any further census returns but there are death registrations for all except Thomas before 1851. There are two deaths for Thomas after 1851 but there is also a later census in 1891 at Allendale?

Sadly these early records do not include ages but there are two burial records at Hexham on freereg.

Jane burial 17 Dec 1847, age 30. John 3 Nov 1846 age 7.
Joshua registration for 1847.

From JenB post it might be worth looking at Thomas Liddell baptised 5 Apr 1814
Ninebanks, Northumberland, parents John & Mary.

Also note Thomas Liddel, son of Thomas & Jane was baptised 17 Dec 1847 Hexham, Northumberland, the day that Jane was buried.

Thomas may be a boarder in Newcastle in 1861 but another Thomas was born Hexham in 1849.

You will only get the name of his father from the certificate.
