Mr P.
The Withy Mills reference relates to the Ref No for the parcel of Land.  If you look at the NW corner of the attached map (http://maps.nls.uk//view/106019792), you will see the land just to the south of the access to Withymills Farm.  A rectangular field of some 2.727acres.

I can only assume that the Paulto Hill references are similar, but that the reference numbers in this area have been changed from those that date from the publication of this map.

The explanatory note is at the left hand side of the bottom margin on the map.

Istrice

WOW!!!!  How awesome. Thankyou so much. this is really really helfpul

Nice work Istrice....if you click on side by side view on the map you will get a google earth view of what is there now.

Old-Maps is a good place to look (www.old-maps.co.uk)
They have partial coverage of the area of 1:2500 for 1971.
I have found 7933 to the south east of Paulton. Couldn't see the others but may be there somewhere.

Did you just find that by being lucky? or do you have some tools. BTW, thanks. I located this one as well

If you call lucky...knowing the site, finding Paulton, then Paulton Hill, finding the nearest date to the one you mentioned, then looking around the area, then, yes lucky  :) :)

As I said before, I used to work in Paulton ;D

Can't say I have heard of Paulto/Paulton Hill?
And Mr Google doesn't know it either?

ADDED:
The Somerset Coal Canal, which ran from Paulton to the Kennet & Avon Canal at Dundas, had a wharf at Withy Mills Colliery ;D

Paulto' Hill is a (fairly small) road heading from Paulton in the general direction of Camerton

Thanks, RD ;D

Think I was looking for a geographical entity, rather than a road?! :-[

Looking on Google Maps (the little yellow man) the road seems to go over a hill, so was probably named after the hill it went over.
Similarly, to the eastern end, where Paulto' Hill becomes Paulton Lane, a road heads north called Radford Hill, heading towards Radford.
