Lucy Flatman, born around 1801 in Eye, Suffolk.
« on: Friday 19 January 18 12:44 GMT (UK) »
Hello There,

The above person was one of my 4x Great Grandma's.
Lucy Flatman married Edward Pocock, on the 17th of September 1827, at St. Luke's Church, Chelsea.

In the 1851 Census, Lucy is living with her husband and family, in Putney, Surrey. This census transcription gives her place of birth as: "Eye, Suffolk", and her birth year as 1801:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:SGTH-QXP

However, I cannot seem to find a baptism transcription at all for Lucy Flatman in Suffolk.
When she married Edward Pocock, at St. Luke's Chelsea, there was a Henry Flatman, who was a witness. So it may be a possibility that this Henry could have been a sibling/father of Lucy?
Also when Lucy married, she was put down on the original image register image, as being: "Of the parish"(of Chelsea).

There seems to be quite a few transcriptions on Family Search for Flatman's baptised in the area. There was a Charlotte Flatman baptised in Eye, in 1795:

If anyone has any information regarding her possible baptism it would be gratefully accepted.

Thank you very much.  :) ;)

Hi, of the parish at marriage time simply means that she resides in the parish in which she is getting married and bears no reference at all to where she was born or, indeed, where she might have lived previously.

Hello
It's possible that Henry was her brother.
There is a Henry Flatman who marries Ann Chambers at Holborn St Andrew 27 Feb 1831.
He was a veterinary surgeon who unfortunately died before the start of the censuses.
It looks like he was born c 1806 and there is a baptism at Wortham Suffolk s of Samuel and Mary 27 Nov 1805 which would fit.
This is not far from Eye.
But of course without a place of birth he could have been born elsewhere.
But there is a James Flatman born 1793 at Wortham on the 1861 census atr Chelsea
