I am new on here but I have just received my GrandMothers birth cetificate. Her Mother was Mary Ann Skidmore/Patrick and her Father Was John Patrick who was a Boatman Toll End road Tipton area. I know nothing about Them, any Ideas Please.

You could look for the marriage of her parents; the certificate should give you the names and occupations of the two fathers. Sometimes the witnesses were family.....brothers, sisters etc.

You've not given any dates but you could search the census records to build a bigger picture of their families.

If you are able to post a timescale then hopefully we'll be able to help.

There is a Hannah Skidmore (b.1892, Staffordshire) who married a Herbert Patrick in 1911, Stourbridge. On the 1901 census for the Skidmore family Hannah has a sister Mary Ann Skidmore (b.1896, Staffordshire). Perhaps the Skidmore sisters both married into the Patrick family.

However none of this may be correct if the time scale is incorrect, but it was worth posting for reference.  :)

Could this be the Lavinia Ann Patrick born Dudley 1877 ,mother's maiden name Skidmore.
Sister Emily Sep1878,brother William Edward Mar 1875 ?

From William Edward's marriage at Tipton St Mathew 25 Dec 1898 his father was John a boatman
His wife was Julia Derricott.They lived on the High St at Tipton.

The 1881 census Tipton New Road
John Patrick 49 Gen lab Thurmby
Mary Ann 44 Lea Brook?
Selina 18 ,? maker Tipton
William 7 Tipton
and Lavinia as Louisa age 5 Tipton

1871 Toll End Road
John  39 boatman Thurmby Leicestershire
Louisa 39  Twekesbury
Elizabeth 14 Tipton
John 12  Tipton
Thomas 10
Selina 7
Rebecca 4

The first Mrs Patrick was a Miss Hawker.She died Sep qtr 1872 Dudley
In 1861 they had been in New Road Tipton and John was  a labourer.
They had married at St Martins 28.7.1756.
He was a railway porter s of William labourer
She  d of William a labouerer

John was baptised Thurnby Leicestershire 3.10.1832 s of William and Jane labourer.

2nd marriage Tipton sT Mark 7.9.1873 to Mary Payton widow d of Jonas Skidmore clerk,both of Toll End.

Mary Ann Skidmore  d of Jonas and Sarah Skidmore nee Hill  baptised Bilston 19 .3.1837
It looks like her first husband was a Anthony Payton married Dudley 16 Aug 1858.

Wow Thank you for the Info . I know Lavinia had a brother called william aka Bill who was a runner with Tipton Harriers so It could be the ones Im looking for. Thamk you very much, ive been trying to find stuff for over 1 year. By the way Lavinia Married a Bricklayer called Thomas Byng. Thanks again.
