Given the rarity of the name, note that the South Wales Daily News of 19 August 1899 reported that a labourer called Robert Morgan, living at Penarth, was imprisoned for disobeying an order of the Court to support the illegitimate child of 'Julia Derwith'.

The court order was for 4s per week and the arrears stood at £11 10s 7d, so the arrangement had presumably been in place for at least a year.

Many thanks hallmark for the screenshots. So Robert Morgan went to prison twice for non payment the last time in June 1900. Perhaps that was the end of the matter as Julia married in August 1900 and might have not pursued the debt further?

The Obituary of Julia Anna Garrett nee Derwith who died in 1957 has brought  more questions than answers. It states the chief mourners were Ernest, Roy (born 1901) and Ken (born 1907), sons. Beatrice, May and Eileen, Daughters in law. Ernest, Roy, Clive and Gwynne, grandsons and Marie grand daughter. Floral tributes were from Ernest, Beatrice & family, Roy & May, Ken Eileen and Pauline, Also Marie, Ray and Clive.
Ken married Eileen Burge in 1940 and had Pauline in 1943. Roy and Maud I do not believe had children , it was Roys second marriage and he had children from his first marriage. So this leaves sons Ernest, Gwynne Ray and Clive as well as a daughter Marie.
After searching BMD records for days there are no records for a marriage of an Ernest Garrett to a Beatrice and no births for Ernest, Gwynne Ray Clive and Marie. Julia Garrett lived in Penarth South Wales but do not know if her sons Ernest and Ken did although Roy did. It just seems so strange that so many births and a marriage are not recorded. I have searched under first names for Ernest and Beatrice’s marriage but no joy. Perhaps the 1939 register might help?  Any suggestions what I can do next.
