White family in Scotland.
« on: Saturday 20 January 18 02:00 GMT (UK) »
Hoping for help with White family in Scotland. I have been given several generations of Whites but see on several Ancestry trees that one of them married a different wife and of course that takes everything in a different direction.
My g,g,grandmother-
 Christian White b 13th or 18th May 1802. Bap 6 Jun 1802.
She married Thomas Robertson. One of their children is my ancestor Alexander Cockburn Robertson.
Christians mother Margaret Cockburn b1780- (Alexanders middle name?)
Christian married Thomas White b 1 Jan 1779.
His father, Robert White 1751-1816, he married Lillias Gray 1756-1810. (married 25 Nov 1775)
His father Thomas White 1726-    he married Jean Melross (b 1732) on 3 Feb 1749.
His father Robert White  1696-  he married Margaret Murray 1702- (married 27 Sep 1723)
In the other trees Thomas White born 1 Jan 1779 is married to a Janet Kemp and that rules out any connection to my tree.  Hoping someone can clarify details for me.
Thanks,  Sandie.

You have not put any places, other than Scotland - any ideas?

Just start with this one:

Christian White b 13th or 18th May 1802. Bap 6 Jun 1802.

Sorry, I forgot to say that as far as I am aware all births, baptisms and marriages happened in West Linton, Peebles, Scotland.

Can't find a marriage for Margaret and Thomas is it possible they never married and Thomas married Janet later on have you found a death for Margaret this could give you names of husbands

Thomas and Margaret possible first child Elizabeth was born 1796 and died 1865 in West Linton which would make Margaret 16 when she was born going on the date of birth you have possible but unlikely I would be looking for a Margaret born about 1770 to 1776
