Another mystery

William Buttle b 1847 Guilting Power Gloucestershire. He marries Emma Hide in 1866 and they have 2 children Eliza and Joseph.  William dies in 1876 and is buried on the 12th March that year.  Now the problem according to ancestry and FreeBMD reg records Emma remarries in September 1875. She marries a Henry Fluck.

Just wonder if I have made a mistake and have got these people mixed up or was bigamy present.

Any help would be appreciated

Sorry, hope I have not wasted your time but have just viewed the banns on the 1875 document and Emma is a spinster, unless she lied but living in a village would be very difficult.

My first thought ... have you checked the year of burial? Maybe it should be March 1875 that William died rather than 1876. It would be easy for the numbers 5 and 6 to be confused if not clearly written.

1876 - 34 gives a birth date of 1842 so still a puzzle.

Are you sure that it isn't a sister of William Buttle who married Henry Fluck?

There's a burial for Emma BUTLE of Eyford Dec 9 1875 age 30.
