JWB is proving somewhat elusive: his wedding & death record and 1939 Register all support his birth in 1882...1911 census 1883 but could easily be late 1882, hence my settling upon the Leeds q4 1882 9b 419 record. Unfortunately the bc gives 16/11/1882 whereas the 1939 Register gives 14/10/1882. I understand that even the 1939 can have incorrect dob info, but from what I've seen it's "usually" by 1 year (exactly...) but others may have different views?
Subsequently I've been told that "my" JWB was abandoned as a child and brought up in the Workhouse. Scrutiny of 1891 123 Beckett Street does have a John Wm Brown, age 11, born Leeds. I can't find any JWB in 1881 records for what I presume is the same Moral & Industrial Training School but I'm not sure. Can anyone further enlighten me as to what other "registers" there might be to better pinpoint (ever hopeful) his arrival in and departure from said institution or similar, please?
I've also attempted to locate the "William Henry Brown & Sarah Jane" in the hope that this couple might lead to JWB's father but that search uncovered both the above on their 2nd marriage and WHB's father an Iron Master who appears to have died before 1851 without any son named "John" being apparent, but I could well have missed something crucial, again....
