There's a Margret Davies b c1883 Blaenrhondda on the 1891 census - parents James (collier) and Hannah. She has a older sisters Ann(e) and Jane. They're in Tylorstown/Ferndale in 1901  but father is still living.

Could be a mistake on the register??

For completeness: no not this one. She;s with parents in 1911

The Beachom one I think lives in Llanwonno on the 1901 census (there is a brother Sidney born 2 years earlier - mmn Beacham) - so if you have found her on the 1901 census elsewhere they must be different people (their father is John though)

DAVIES, MARGARET  ANN  (DAVIES)
GRO Reference: 1883  J Quarter in MERTHYR TYDFIL  Volume 11A  Page 536

With the last one a Davies may have married a Davies or she is illeg.

I did search for marriages 1871-1883 under Cannon/Beacham in Glamorganshire but no matching spouse was a John Davies.

It's a Davies marrying a Davies, the old GRO index shows them both that way - the new one puts a line if no mothers maiden name

There is a Mary Ann BEACHAM marriage to a John Davies in Merthyr  Mar 1864

Thank you for this info :-) I have seen John and Letitia, and daughter Margaret Ann, but discounted them for some reason I can't remember now. I'll have a look and try to work out why!

I think 'my' Margaret A is the one living at 22 East Road with Thomas and Margaret Morgan in 1901. A 17 yr old servant. She is the only one who lists Blaenrhondda specifically as her birthplace, which I originally got from the 1911 census record. Her future husband Wm Henry is only a few streets away on Glamorgan Terrace.

Both the middle initial A, and Blaenrhondda are mis-transcribed on Ancestry making her hard to find. I'll see if I can attach the page...

Can't attach, but here's a link https://www.ancestry.co.uk/family-tree/person/tree/118649555/person/370176106257/facts

Hmm, perhaps she is the one I've found in 1901 - living without family as a servant age 17, birthplace Blaenrhondda. I had discounted her because of the father's name. But yes, as you say maybe an error. Or stepfather? The presence of Jane certainly fits... But if she's there in 1911 I can rule her out!
