I don't think Watney Sibuns records are held in the Library.They are still in business as "Sibuns"

I've sourced one of the funeral director registers at the library before, and prefer to do so instead of 'bugging' the funeral directors if at all possible

That must be quite a new collection as John Sibun was doing their archives up until quite recently and they had an archivist doing W H Tongues records.

I am pleased to see they got Weir's records too because they went into recievership

Hi Twiggy,

I don't think we have had any Chatters visit the library in quite a while.  Have you thought of using the "Ask the Librarian" button.  I have used them in various libraries in the past and they have been helpful with the information.

I have checked with the library; the index to Watney Sibun's records is held in the Family Research area and the records themselves are located in Special Collections.....

Righto, time for some feedback.

The "Ask a librarian" said they still only have C Littles funeral register records. 

The other references on that page, I was told, are for off-site research ie to inform you where you may find the other director's registers and direct you there.


I ended up contacting Sibuns directly and they came through with the register entry page.


It raised another question though about Auckland Hospital register records ... might the "Register of Patient Admissions and Discharges" have the date of birth on admission, and the cause of death on 'discharge'?
