Dear cosmac, Sandra, Gadget and bbart

Thank you all for your information, suggestions and ideas - I've mulled over the suggestions this weekend and have just bit the bullet and ordered a copy of Red Willow Reflections, knowing full well that there will/may be only the smallest of references to my uncle.  Thank for the link, bbart, it did work!

I have begun to get to know Joe's neighbours too!  So I think that the book will add colour and detail to what I know about him and the area he lived in, even if he is barely mentioned.

I started to investigate this individual and his twin brother eight or nine years ago and have been really excited to re-visit the information recently, finding so much more now available online!  I have added many details - from exact dates of departure & arrival from passenger lists, and have been able to understand the Homestead system so much more.

Very excitedly looking forward to a delivery in the next couple of weeks - and of course will be happy to offer look-ups!

That took a good while !

Might get back to you when I've consulted the records but, for starters, are there any Burgess or McDowell?
