« on: Monday 22 January 18 01:02 GMT (UK) »
Could someone be able to advise me as to where in Co. Durham, Pinfold House and Windyside are please. I think maybe in the Weardale area but can't locate them on Google maps.
Many thanks.

You might find something on the link below!  Looks as though you're on the right track with Weardale!

Pinfold House is by Daddry Shield. There was a corn mill there and a quarry. Windyside is on the south bank of the Wear between Daddry Shield and Westgate.

Always worth having a look at the historic Ordnance Survey Maps on the wonderful National Library of Scotland site (I found them on the six inch sheet Durham XXIII published 1861).

There are a lot of references to Pinfold House in the Durham Records Office catalogue http://www.rootschat.com/links/01le5/
Pinfold House is now called Mill House, and Windyside House is called Glenwhelt.

That's brilliant Stan, thank you. I also have ancestors who were living at Pinfold House in the late 18th and early 19th centuries so all of that info is very interesting.

Vabre, just as an aside, one of my ancestors was Jonathon Walton Forster, he was born at St John's Chapel (same area). Walton wasn't his mother's maiden name but I'm guessing that it was a family name although I haven't yet traced its origin. Let me know if you find any Forsters in your family, we could be related!  :)
