Goulding St Pancras
« on: Monday 22 January 18 09:34 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to research a family tree for a friend and not got very far.  Details are:-
Francis Edward Goulding born St Pancras 1893 - I have found him and his wife May and children Francis and Elizabeth, but going back is difficult.  His farther was George Goulding born about 1852 in Pimlico and his mother was Mary born New Hall Devon or on 1911 it says Knowstone Devon.  She remarried after George died and became Mary Haberfield, I have found her a widow in 1939 living in Kings Road, London.   I have all Francis (Frank) siblings, George, John, Rhoda, Thomas, and Annie but I cannot find a marriage for George and Mary so no surname for her and I cannot find George senior before 1881.  I do know he was a jeweller.   There is a George Gooding born in Pimlico in 1852 but does not fit any of the Goulding family details. Is anyone able to help please.
Many thanks

Thank you so much for your help.  I didn't think of checking the births of children for mothers surname.  I have found her now in Devon so can find her parents and siblings.  Now all I need is to find George Golding born in 1852 in Plimico Middlesex but I will keep searching
Thanks again

I would have thought that George senior's 1880 marriage cert was "the next step".
You've added nothing extra from this posting to help find him prior to 1880.

Sorry I was concentrating on finding his wife's maiden name, which thanks to help on here I now have.   I have him as George E Goulding born in Pimlico Middlesex on the 1881 census and 1891 one says he was born about  1850 and on the other he was born in 1848 both say Pimlico.  He also shows up on the childrens school in 1893 St Matthews New school Camden.  He was a jeweller but will have to get his marriage certificate to go back further.

Thanks  again

I have him as George E Goulding born in Pimlico Middlesex on the 1881 census

There is no middle initial E on the 1881 census - he is age 33 born Pimlico
