89 West Cliff Rd Ramsgate - who lives there in 1939?

Hi people,

I just found the death notice for my great grandfather in a newspaper as follows:

" 2Bth January, at 89, West Cliffroad, Ramsgate, Burton Gooch Smith, aged 76 years. "

This was in 1935. Sorry, I didn't note down the name of the newspaper.

Anyway, I tried to find this address in the 1939 register but could not locate a number 89.
It is possible that the number was garbled by the OCR.

My intention was to see who was living there in 1939, hoping it might correspond to some of Burton's relatives. Burton's wife died in 1930. In 1935 he could have been with his grown up children.

I can see the property listed.  Did you try a street search then browse the property numbers

Perhaps I'm not doing it right.
Within Findmypast's 1939 register, I select search on address and key in "89 West Cliff" and the search returns zero results.
If I take out the number, I get about six streets by that name (terrace, Avenue, Road etc) but on inspection no house numbers go higher than 55.
Am I overlooking something?

Then just put in West Cliff Road

This brings up a choice of places one of which is where you need.  Select that then you get a list of all the properties enumerated

As it turns out, the 1939 occupants are no connection to Burton.
But no harm in looking.
