I KNEW the name Simon Lynch rang a bell .. looked at my family tree programme....appears Bridget's sister Anna Maria 1871 - 1921 married a Simon Lynch van driver 1908
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1908/10073/5663896.pdf
1911 census married 6 yrs no children
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Dublin/Mountjoy/Richmond_St__North/15956/
Lynch   Simon   27   Male   Head of Family   Roman Catholic
Lynch   Annie   34   Female   Wife   Roman Catholic b Dublin [she has been liberal with her age]
This is probably his birth
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1882/02783/2021782.pdf
son of - wait for it - Simon Lynch & Ellen Lynch formerly nee Mulcahy  ::)
Annie's death at 21 Rutland Cottages, buried Glasnevin.
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1921/05084/4395489.pdf
Simon jnr's death 1952 age 70 buried Glasnevin
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1952/04483/4176602.pdf

So - am I right? - Annie married the son of her sister's husband's mother's second marriage.... Bridget married in 1921 the son her sister Annie's husband's [married 1908] mother's first marriage...

From my reckoning

Sisters Anne and Bridget ALLEN
married step-brothers with shared Mother Ellen MULCAHY
George WHITTY (F) Martin WHITTY (marriage 1) to Bridget in 1921
and Simon LYNCH (F) Simon LYNCH (marriage 2) to Anne in 1908

to quote yourself josey "well off the original query" but just shows how it all relates!

And I've now found out how many of my grandmother Christina Allen's siblings died fairly young
Anne 1871 - 1921, Margaret 1873 - 1909, Michael 1875 - 1937, Julia 1876 - 1930 [in Montreal], Maria 1878 - 1878, Bridget 1882 - 1932. She herself lived 1880 - 1970.
