Ernest and Alice.. Griffiths wolverhampton / wombourne
« on: Monday 22 January 18 15:32 GMT (UK) »
Hello.. Im trying to track down my great uncle.. ernest griffiths, born 1906 wolverhampton, son of william henry griffiths...

Ernest was married to an "Alice" and had at least 2 children, a tony (dont know if hes just a tony.. or an anthony ) and an eileen (she was the elder of the two)

The family then lived at wombourne

but I cant seem to find anything of the marriage of ernest and alice or the births of the two children

There's a marriage in 1941 to an Alice would that be too late?

Children you mention could still be living - have you checked birth index for likely candidates to get Alice maiden name (could be registered under her surname if they weren't actually married)

Hi
You may want to try William E Griffiths born 11 Dec 1905 but registered in the Mar 1906 at Wolverhampton .
He seems to have married Alice Harley Sep 1931 in Wolverhampton 6B 1547
There is a son with mother's maiden name Earley which fits  your Tony /Anthony .
Can't see Eileen

thasnk you... both... that might.. work, as there has been a lil confusion with another relative doing there trees.. of a mix up in names between a william ernest.. and a william...

they did have a first child, called william (ernests parents that is)... but I only have his birth... perhaps he died... and they... kept his name so to speak for when ernest came along

Hi
Is this the family?
William Henry Griffiths born Hockley 1879 and Polly Richards married Dec qtr 1901
Thomas Alfred June 1903
William Ernest Mar 1906
Annie Elizabeth June 1908
Robert Henry June 1912

If so there is a William Griffiths born 1904 but his mother was a Miss Dugmore and he is not with the family on the 1911.
The family I found originally comes from Lichfield were the spelling is Griffiss/Griffes
ie Henry Griffes bapt 26 June 1791 s of William at St chad

But of course I may have totally the wrong family because Griffiths is just so common  a name.
