Good evening,

That would have to come after the other three in order of wear Ady.

The ribbon looks very dark but that could be the available light, age of the photo or some other effect. It has to be one of the 1900/1906 medals, KSA is most logical.

I think it is the Queens South Africa Medal, going by the shape of the back of the head, the Queen has a headdress, whereas the King's head is rounded.

The number of clasps depends on what he qualified for.

I agree about the possible photographic effect of the medal ribbon, my grandfather's QSA ribbon looks quite the reverse to all the illustrations, but I confirmed it as the QSA by his list of clasps on the Medal Roll.

Sorry, but it is NOT the KSAM, apart from the ribbon being totally wrong, the KSAM was only awarded as a pair with the QSAM.

I had thought about the Long Service Medal for the St John Ambulance, but would it be worn on the other side of the trio?

Also the Anglo Boer War St Johns, awarded to men who were training but did not leave the UK

Just throwing a couple of things into the pot.

Thanks everyone for your time and efforts and suggestions.
I posted this photo on behalf on someone who wanted to ID the medals.
Have kept her posted of your thoughts and asked her for a close up of the medals photo.
But she is not replying to my Emails,
Sorry.

Hi, just coming back in on this, there are 2 medal index cards I'm looking at which are a bit of a puzzle.

I have a:-

Patrick Marsden  Labour Corps and Kings Liverpool Regiment Reg number 578487

and also

Patrick Marsdon The King's (Liverpool) Regiment, Labour Corps Reg number 12103, and 578487.

However the second chap Marsdon claimed his Star under the name of Patrick Marshall, does this name mean anything to your friend?

Regards
Frank.
