When was Ellin baptised?
« on: Tuesday 23 January 18 12:26 GMT (UK) »
Ellin was born Eaton, Leicestershire daughter of Robert & Frisworth SHELTON.  The year appears to be 1741.  Ellin is the last recording at the bottom of the clipping.

At the end of the line I think it reads " was bap Feb " and I think the 18 written above appears to belong to that entry.  ???

The apparent interline above the line of your entry reads:  ye 18

It may have some of a th after the number.

Like Christine I think the last word on the main line is probably: feb

So I also think it reads:  ...was Bap feb ^ye 18^

The previous entry appears to be for a date in ffeb, to the extent that it can be read.

It would do no harm to post more of the following lines.

In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

The FindMyPast transcriber plumped for "6 Feb"

The FindMyPast transcriber plumped for "6 Feb"

It's hard to see why, unless the transcriber didn't consider the interlined text at all and took the last character of the main line for a 6.

I also think it is Feb 18th, if you follow the lines / dates from the top down then it makes (to me) sense that the writer ran out of room & went up with the date

Entry before Ellin is Feb 13th and one before that the 9th so can't be the 6th

Entry before Ellin is Feb 13th and one before that the 9th so can't be the 6th

The entry two lines up is:  10br:29th = (Decem)b(e)r:29th

The one above Ellin could be the 13th but is too faded to be certain.
