The only burial I can find is:-

Anstice LOBB, widow, 28 Feb 1698, St Issey

This is only a couple of miles from St Ervan, so could be 'my' Anstice. However, John LOBB was buried at St Issey on 23 Feb 1689, and, in 1653 (exact date unknown):-

John LOBB m Anstis WARNE in St Issey

I think this proves that the widow buried in St Issey is not 'mine' but also, perhaps just as important, it shows that Anstice is in use as a Christian name in that part of the county.

Returning to the subject of names, the only suitable marriage I can find is:-

27 Dec 1690  Thomas LOBB m Ann BISCUMBE in St Breock

Once again, I assume the officiating clergyman had a problem with Anstice and took the easy way out!

Whilst trying to eliminate one or other of the foregoing bearers of the name 'Joseph BENNETT', I've come across a third in St Austell.

A baptism: 21 Jul 1689, Joseph s of Solomon BENNETT

Does he belong to anyone who can help me eliminate him from my search?

Hi Emeltom,

At last, something positive. We can eliminate your first prospect:-

St Stephen-in-Brannel, burial, 4 Jun 1699, Joseph BENNATTO, base child, son of Mary.

One down, two to go!

I think we can now eliminate the Joseph who was baptized in Tywardreath in 1700 as the PR contains the following entry:-

19 Nov 1723 Joseph BENNET was buried

That, apparently, leaves only the Joseph BENNETT who was baptized in St Austell in 1689. Does anyone know of any others?
