What was Frisworth's maiden name
« on: Tuesday 23 January 18 13:38 GMT (UK) »
Frisworth was the second wife of Robert SHELTON.  Robert's first wife Mary HOOMS was buried at Eaton 22 Aug 1739.

The first child to Robert & Frisworth I am able to locate is Ellin who was baptised 6 Feb 1741 at Eaton. I imagine Robert & Frisworth were married sometime in 1740.

Westy.

Can't see a marriage but the only Frisworth I can find being baptised in the 1700s is a Frisworth Floor, bapt. 15 September 1726 Burton Lazars, parents Richard and Jane. If she was born that year she would only have been 15 when the first child was born.

There's also the baptism (FindMyPast image/transcription) -
Frisworth Floor, year 1716, place Whissendine, Rutland, father Jno (original illegible in parts)

Thanks so much for your contributions.  I shall follow each lead to see where it takes me.

I had never heard the forename of Frisworth before and have looked to determine the origins without success to date.

edit I wonder if the age is a problem?  I know one of my great grandmothers was about 15 yr one month when she married and that was in 1868 in country Australia.  The couple married with their parents permission.

I am wondering if the marriage of Frisworth Mason to Robert Sheton at St Mary, Nottingham on 18 October 1741 is feasible?  Basis for my query is if this is the correct couple their first child Ellin would have been recorded as illegitimate [which she was not] and she was baptised 6 Feb 1741.

1741 was still under the old calendar, with the new year beginning on 25th March, not 1st Jan, ie the baptism would be 6 Feb 1742 under the 'new' calendar.

Very good point so my assumption may well be flawed. :(

Thanks,
