Thank you for your replies Charles John Witney is a bit of puzzle to me. I think I have him in 1861 when he is a visitor in Hackney  and also states he was born in Hackney. He marries Jane Cooper in 1866 and I also have him 1871 and finally when he dies in 1881 in Hoxton Asylum. His occupation for most of his life was as a Coal Porter when he did marry Jane he stated his father was Charles but deceased. I did originally think his father was Charles whose occupation was a Cooper but when I looked at the 1871 for this Charles, his son was 25 and unmarried  and I found another 1871 census for Charles and Jane living in Hackney. So obviously I was going up the wrong path. I'm sorry if I have made this complicated to read but I hope somebody can solve this puzzle for me.
thank you for your time

I can find a Charles Witney snr (b c1812) & jnr (b c1845) in Hackney poor law records in 151. Wife Sarah has left

Charles snr is son of Francis & Ann, both deceased. Legally settled in  ??  Charles born in his father's house in "Castle of Kingsland" ?

There's a Charles in 1851 b c1812 in Castle St Hackney with widowed mother Ann. He's a labourer, married, but no wife with him [indexed as Widing on Ancestry]
