Username Change

Does anyone know how to change a username? There is an option to reset a  password but not for the username that I can find.
Thanks
Lynne

Lynne,

If you just want to change the name that is shown on your posts (that's easiest), then go to your profile, then 'account settings', then enter the name you want in 'name'.

Trystan - that's not the username though is it?  My user name is different to the one shown on my posts.  I changed the one shown on my posts which used to be my user name as there was a very similar one that appeared after I joined Roots, but my user name stayed the same for logging on.

Thank you for both your replies.  What I would like to do is change the user name that shows when I post or reply to posts.  I’ll try the Profile approach first and see if that works. As you may have guessed I am technologically challenged.
Thanks
Lynne

I changed my username too Lizzie. I remember having to ask one of the admin to do this for me. It was not something I could do myself - I still need to re-enter my original username if I get logged out of rootschat.  :)

I thought that the username was the name shown on our posts.

I have just followed Trystan's directions and I see:

Username = my old original username
Name:  This is the displayed name that people will see.

So you can change your own name, which is handy.  :)

But not your original user name which becomes part of your log in, if you log out or change computers. ;)

Thank you for additional replies. When I tried to change username I got a message saying The following error occurred when trying to save your profile. The selected username/display name has already been taken.
Would it be easier to delete my account ( if that is possible) and start again?
