No doubt you found his birth in St Marylebone in the last quarter of 1914.  I transcribed that year incorrectly: sorry!

Wandsbek is an eastern suburb of Berlin.  When a German address has two places separated by a hyphen, the second is usually a subdivision of the first: it can be, for example, a village in the same parish.  I don't know about the place of death, evidently not in Germany.

I assume he did not have British nationality, for then one would expect him to be interned on the outbreak of war.  Perhaps he returned to the land of his ancestors expressly to fight for his hero Hitler.  However, there must have been many with divided loyalties.

Sorry to disagree but Wandsbek is place east of Hamburg.

Dave, you read it on the internet so it must be true.

However, I have a German atlas and Wandsbek is clearly within the urban agglomeration of Hamburg.  Possibly it was a separate community in 1944, though the designation Hamburg-Wandsbek implies it was not.
