Hi wscroley
So it has already been established (via a newspaper notice) that Ellenor Ernestine STEWART (aka Nellie) who wed Arthur Edwin BEAUMONT in 1897, was the daughter of
a George Martin STEWART of the Police Force at Kanieri, Hokitika, earlier at Newtown, Wellington.
For some reason, George dropped the use of his second name "Martin" sometime before he married again in
1894 to Catherine FORSTER. Catherine was born 1872 in Hokitika and in the 1911 Will of her father, Matthew FORSTER she was described as "my daughter
Catherine (nee FORSTER) the wife of George STEWART of Hokitika, ex-Policeman"...

In your thread on the Limerick board, I think I recall you saying that George's family had been Protestant ?
Going by the burial records for Orowaiti Cemetery, Hokitika, as well as showing that George and Catherine share Plot # 6190, Block 289, it also notes George's denomination as "Anglican" and Catherine's as "Roman Catholic".
