Elusive Folliott Magrath
« on: Thursday 25 January 18 16:56 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
I have found reference to a Faliat/Folliott Magrath in British Army Records re his pension or Superannuation Allowance.
The references variously have him as a Clerk, Barracks Off. or Clerk in Army Ordnance for the periods 1868-72 and 1872-77.
With a name like that he is surely a descendant of a branch of the Folliott Magrath (Merchant) 1734-1804 family of Dublin.  There were other Follliott Magraths, but they all seemed to have died by 1869 and do not seem to have been Army Clerks at any time (Merchants, Reverends, Surgeons, yes).
I cannot find any references elsewhere to this new Folliott in Ireland or elsewhere.  Does anyone have any ideas - could these be pension payments to a living relative for a job my Folliotts might formally have been registered for, but never actually did? Or .... ???
Thanks
