His service record is on Findmypast - you can get a pay as you go sub and download the record.

1st Devon Yeomanry Sep 1915 later Labour Corps in an Agricultural Company, served only in UK, discharged Jan 19.

His service record doesn't say much. As MaxD said he didn't serve overseas.
First attested in the 3/1 D.Y. & transferred to the 2/1.
Made L/Cpl. & had no. 3259.
On the formation of the Labour Corps he was posted to the 449 Ag. Coy. no. 546814.
Gives NOK as mother Emma Eveleigh (Mrs.) of Rawridge, Upottery.
An engine driver by trade & probably used in that capacity.

His death?   Ernest W Eveleigh , age 78, Honiton, Dec 1965.

Death of wife? Agnes May Eveleigh, dob  7 Jan 1895. Honiton, Dec  1975. From Find a Will:- Died 2 Nov 1975. Residence  Oakland, Burnt House Hill,  Upottery.

You lot are fantastic.  I think I can now build Ernest's life story.  Only thing is that his next of kin is down as Emma Eveleigh who died 1935 and his mother when his mother (I'm sure of now) was Emily who died 1891 and he'd been living with his grandmother Emma since 1891.

Thank you for all your help.  Can lay him to rest now.
