Thanks to Japeflakes and Pat for wonderful images.

For well over forty years I’ve thought the Lady in the Sepia Mist was an older version of Elizabeth Barlow (at a different house) http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=786481.0

Now Carol and Gadget have opened a can of worms !

I’ve attached the backs.
The top one is the reverse of the photo on this thread
The bottom one is the reverse of Elizabeth, Gladys and Dorothy Barlow in 1909/10

These ARE from the same time, are they not?  The same “M46” and pencilled mark in the stamp box ?

In 1911 Elizabeth’s mother [Hannah Maria Crook nee Coxhead] was living next door to Elizabeth and the girls at 2 St Johns View, Newbury.

Given that the house is different, could this be Hannah Barlow, nee Carter/Cook (1839- Feb 1912).

As Gadget has hinted – she was the mother of Edmund Barlow (husband and father of the lasses on the other thread).

I need a strong cuppa !

Just been doing some research on the censuses 1871 -> and I think it ties in with Steve:

I think the lady might be Hannah Barlow, b.c. 1839, living Pelican Terrace, Speenhamland, Newbury in 1901.

Gadget

added - not the same house as Elizabeth and Edmund's so maybe she moved just before the 1911, which would fix the dates  :)

Yes I would agree...the age seems to fit too.

Elisha and Hannah Barlow lived at 5 Pelican Terrace, Newbury in 1901 and 1911.

Hannah was buried in Feb 1912 with address as Pelican Terrace (no house number); Elisha died in May 1916 at 5 Pelican Terrace.

Is she standing outside the fifth doorway?

Are the backs of the cards proof that this is the same date?

I've posted on the Berkshire Board to see if anyone recognises the row.

You've had some lovely restores from Carol and the others, Steve, so I've taken the liberty of cropping the image and adding some texture.

It's lovely, Carol. I think Steve must have got a bit excited finding that this might be Hannah Barlow. I'm sure he didn't miss thanking you deliberately  :)
