Change of dress code for BLA in Sept 1944
« on: Saturday 27 January 18 18:38 GMT (UK) »
In a letter dated 28 September 1944, my Uncle (REME soldier) was with the British Liberation Army in France and wrote "I believe we are now permitted to wear ???? when walking out..." Areas of the letter were burnt, leaving missing words. My guess is that they were permitted to wear collar and tie (because he asked the recipient of the letter to send some to him). Can anyone point me to a document/edict that might support this or otherwise clarify the dress code?

Hi

Could it be Mufti? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mufti_(dress)

I've discovered it can't have been Mufti, as he later wrote that the collars and ties had to be army issue. Thanks for the thought though
