William Kirtland
« on: Saturday 27 January 18 18:47 GMT (UK) »
Hi,  I am trying to get a bearing on a William Kirtland who was 15 in late 1882 when he was in the location of Neithrop,Oxon?

I would like to know who his parents and siblings were and if he was ever married and any other useful information.
Here is the most likely contender that I can find.

Births Sep 1867
William Kirtland,  b. Banbury, 3a   698

Can anybody add anything please?

You can use the GRO search to add  mothers maiden name, and pickup candidate siblings.

Using the GRO Index his mothers maiden name was Betts, so look for a marriage of an Isaac Kirtland to a Mary (Ann) Betts.

The page you need is

https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/Login.asp

You need to register, but searching the indexes is free

You don;t need the mother's maiden name. Once you've got set up, search for William Kirtland, male, b 1867 and the result will give you the maiden name. Once armed with that you can do searches for Kirtland, no first name specified, of either gender around that date, with the mother maiden name added, which will identify possible siblings

Newspaper report 1882 says he was 15 found guilty given a month in prison and 5yr in reform.

Richard Brock who was with him age 16 was acquitted. Both girls were age 9yrs. So any marriage would be after his reform years.

Same parents in 1881 as given by Keyboard.
